Permit Application Form
Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) has a commitment to saving time and energy when creating and renewing business licenses. Its processes are being continually being upgraded to maximise efficiency and encourage ease of business. You can apply online to get your license renewal.
Renewing your business license consists of three steps:
At the time of renewing your business license, your tenancy contract must be valid.
Should your tenancy contract require renewing, please ensure that it is attested by the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Ejari).
There are more than 2,000 business activities available in Dubai, some of which require
approvals from government bodies (federal and local) other that the DED.
If your business is regulated by other government departments, you need to contact them to find out what documents they require for approving your business activity and license renewal or you can refer to the
business activities and external approvals list which is updated regularly by Business Registration and Licensing Sector in DED.
Business activities that fall under DED control do not require any additional activity-specific licensing approvals.
Now that you have completed the steps above, you need to submit the required documents through various approved application channels:
DED eServices - an online user account should be available.
Document clearing offices
Authorized law firms
Please consider attaching all required documents for each of the previous steps.
For branches of UAE, Free zone, GCC and foreign companies, a copy of the trade license of the parent company is required.
Upon submitting the required documents, you will be issued with a payment voucher or a transaction number, which you will need to use as a reference when you pay.
Remember: The license must be renewed before its expiry date. You will have to pay AED 200 monthly fine after expiry date.
Auto Renew With the aim of providing a high standard of customer service, DED has launched the Auto Renew service in 2015. Trade licenses, that do not need any prior approval from any external body to get the renewal transaction processed (business activities that fall under DED control), can benefit from the Auto Renew service.
Holders of trade licenses receive an SMS two weeks prior to the expiry of their licenses to inform them that these are due for renewal. They are also provided with an e-link that would direct them to the channels through which they can pay the renewal fees and get their licenses renewed.
